André Eygun

André Eygun (1922-2010), son of a shepherd from d'Osse-en-Aspe in Béarn, was a philosophy teacher at the 'Ecole Normale Supérieure d'Ulm'.
With his wife (a native of the French Alps), he devoted himself for many years to the education of children with disabilities, especially in Grenoble.
In his book Peuple d'Aspe, André Eygun shows his love for his native country Aspe and the Béarnaise language. A discreet man with a tolerant heart, he endeavored to trace the history of the valley and to describe what was once the life of the Aspois; the hard living conditions of the people, these proud mountaineers and free men and women.
